Question of the Week

QUESTION OF THE WEEK--please have your child figure out the answer to the following question.  They should write their answer on a piece of paper and bring it to school.  Make sure the paper says their name, "website question", and the answer.

Question #1: Mrs. Chappel has 4 apples. Mrs. Mooney has 1 apple. How many do they have altogether? Draw a picture to show your answer.

Question #2:  I ate 3 apples.  My friend ate 2 apples.  How many apples did we eat altogether?  Draw a picture to show your answer.

Question #3:  Gavin saw 1 pumpkin.  Mrs. Lopez saw 4 pumpkins.  How many pumpkins did they see altogether?  Draw a picture to show your answer.

Question #4:  2 leaves fell from a tree.  Then, 2 more leaves fell from a tree.  How many leaves fell in all?  Draw a picture to show your answer.

Question #5:  Mrs. French picked 5 pumpkins.  Mrs. Peltier did not pick any pumpkins.  How many pumpkins did they pick altogether?  Draw a picture to show your answer.

Question #6:  Mrs. Marchand had 3 pieces of candy corn.  Mrs. Peltier gave her 2 more pieces.  How much candy corn did Mrs. Marchand have altogether?  Draw a picture to show your answer.

Question #7:  I saw 3 USA flags in the window at school.  I saw 1 USA in the window at the store.  How many flags did I see altogether?  Use a picture to help you answer.

Question #8:  I have 5 turkeys.  My friend gives me 1 more turkey.  How many turkeys do I have now?

Question #9:  Mrs. Chivinski has 7 pumpkin pies.  Mrs. French gives her 1 more pumpkin pie.  How many pumpkin pies does she have now?  Use a picture to show your answer.

Question #10:  Santa left 4 presents under the tree.  An elf opened 1 of the presents.  How many presents are left?  Use a picture to show your answer.

Question #11:  There were 5 reindeer pulling the sleigh.  1 more reindeer joined them.  How many reindeer are there in all?  Use a picture to show your answer.

Question #12:  Show the different ways to make 5.  Use pictures or circles to help.

Question #13:  There are 5 snowmen outside.  I build 2 more snowmen.  How many snowmen in all?  Use a picture to show your answer.

Question #14:  I went to the store and with 1 nickel and 3 pennies.  How much money did I bring to the store?

Question #15:  Draw a picture of a triangle, square, circle, rectangle.  Write 2 attributes/characteristics of each.
